CINEMATOGRAPHER + ENGINEER · SWIMMING, TRIATHLON, ENDURANCE SPORT · GAINESVILLE, FL
Cinematographer and engineer. Same person, same job.
I film endurance athletes, then build the software and systems around them. Five beats below say how that happened.

01 · DECK
I started on a pool deck.
From 2015 to 2018 I was the digital media specialist for University of Florida swimming and diving. Meets, SEC championships, training footage for coaches, recruiting pieces. That is where I learned to shoot in a room with no good light, get the clip out before the bus left, and keep a camera dry.
02 · PHLEX
Then I co-founded a hardware company and had to learn to build software.
In 2016 I co-founded Phlex Swim: a wearable for swimmers, an Apple Watch app, and a web platform. I was creative director and an engineer, which in a company that size means I shot every film and also shipped the watch app. The launch film and the product launches are on this site. I stayed until 2024.
03 · CAMERA
The camera became a second job that never went away.
Alongside Phlex I shot for Nike Swim, Arena, NoBull, Speedo and deBoer. In 2021 I was the sole content creator for the Cali Condors across two ISL hubs in Europe. Since 2025 I have produced Caeleb Dressel’s YouTube channel end to end and built the custom training tools and analytics he uses. Tooling, never data: what happens in his training stays there.
04 · OPERATOR
2026 is the operator year.
At deBoer I run marketing as a department of one and engineer the things a department of one needs: the storefront rebuild, the team programs, a status monitor that pages me instead of a channel, and a content system where an AI agent drives DaVinci Resolve from a one-page edit language I wrote. On the side I founded SwimPass, open-water conditions for 59k spots on iOS and watchOS.
05 · NEXT
What is next is wider than swimming.
In October I am in Kona for the world championships, shooting photo and video with a pro triathlon team. Nothing is shot yet; the first frames will be on the triathlon page when they are.
Swimming is the DNA. The work now spans triathlon, endurance brands, athletes, and the tools they run on. If you are one of those, here is how I work.
